Piano tuning requires sensitive hearing and a high skill level. Bruce and James tune by ear, with tunings having appeared on concert stages and top-selling recordings.

About Us

Since 1973, Bruce has done all types of repairs and adjustments, and specializes in the art of high-level grand action regulation and voicing. James is an accomplished guitarist and has been tuning pianos since 2015. He is rapidly gaining experience in all types of repairs. Both Bruce and James are Registered Piano Technicians (RPT). This website is dedicated to the love of pianos. Tuning, repairing, playing and finding good homes for them are the goals.

How often should a piano be tuned?

It is recommended that a piano be tuned every 6-12 months. A piano’s tuning is affected by:

  • Changes in the temperature and humidity

  • Moving the piano

  • Condition of the piano

  • Use of the piano

How long after a move until a piano can be tuned?

Typically a piano should be in its new home for at least two weeks to get used to its new environment before tuning.

How long does a piano tuning take?

It usually takes about an hour and a half to tune a piano.

Do you move pianos?

No, we do not move pianos. We refer clients to Safe and Sound Piano Movers (602) 426-9640 to schedule a move.
